Fount Society – Full Technical Ownership of a Headless Shopify Build

Overview:
Fount Society is a clean skincare brand under the Cozy Earth umbrella, focused on health-first, ingredient-conscious formulations. As the technical lead, I architected and built their headless ecommerce platform from the ground up — responsible for every piece of the system from infrastructure to interactive features.

My Role:
Led the end-to-end development process as the sole technical owner. Worked directly with the product manager to scope features, prioritize roadmap items, and ensure the build aligned with both short-term campaign needs and long-term scalability. I oversaw junior contributors, performed code reviews, and implemented all core functionality.

Key Contributions:

• Custom Skin Quiz & Product Personalization:
  Built an interactive quiz that delivers dynamic product recommendations based on user input — a key differentiator in their acquisition funnel.
• Content-Driven Architecture with Metaobjects:
  Engineered a highly flexible content system using Shopify Metaobjects and Metafields, allowing internal teams to manage landing pages, product pairings, usage guides, and educational content natively within the Shopify Admin.
• Promotion & Cart Logic via Shopify Functions:
  Implemented custom discount logic, eligibility rules, and checkout triggers using Shopify Functions in TypeScript for maximum speed and serverless scalability.
• High-Performance SvelteKit Frontend:
  Chose SvelteKit for its optimal performance and developer ergonomics. Built a fully responsive, accessible, and modern UI optimized for both product storytelling and conversion.
• Tech Leadership & Execution:
  Acted as the single point of technical ownership. Scoped technical features, led reviews, enforced code quality, and ensured all shipping code met brand and performance standards.

Outcome:
Fount Society launched with a custom, scalable headless storefront tailored for content-rich ecommerce. My work enabled their team to iterate quickly, create personalized shopping experiences, and manage all site content through the Shopify Admin — without relying on third-party CMS platforms.
